What does Mini-Backup Do?

Mini-Backup creates a replica of the directories and files you select to back up, in a location you select. This can be another drive, or a folder on your current drive.

For example:

If you select the folder c:\mydata\myfinance\currentyear to backup to a destination of g:\mybackups, then Mini-Backup will copy all the files in c:\mydata\myfinance\currentyear and place them in g:\mybackups\C\mydata\myfinance\currentyear.

If you also selected d:\mypictures\holiday with the same destination (g:\mybackups) then the files in d:\mypictures\holiday would be copied to g:\mybackups\D\mypictures\holiday too.

However if you selected c:\mydata to the same location then all the files in c:\mydata would be saved to g:\mybackups\C\mydata and all the files in c:\mydata\myfinance to g:\mybackups\C\mydata\myfinance and so on.

So that means that if you select a folder that has other folders under it all of those folders and files would be backed up too.

You can also select individual files too, so if you only wanted to backup a file called mybankaccount.xls in c:\mydata\myfinance\currentyear you can select the file only without selecting any folders and it would be backed up to g:\mybackups\C\mydata\myfinance\mybankaccount.xls.

So you see Mini-Backup makes it easy when it comes to restoring a file to it's original location as it maintains the tree structure of the original data in the backup location.

Mini-Backup does not compress or compact any files, so they are stored in their original form. If when you run a backup the file already exists in the backup location it is automatically overwritten, making it easy to keep your backups up to date with the latest versions of the files.
